Re: El Dorado Elementary
Dear Commissioner,
I write to respectfully urge the approval of the application to designate El Dorado Elementary School, located at 5241 J Street in Sacramento, as a historic resource.
Originally constructed in 1921, El Dorado Elementary School has stood for more than a century and has become an integral part of the East Sacramento community. Generations of Sacramento families have passed through its doors, making it not only a significant educational institution but also a longstanding neighborhood landmark.
The school was designed by the distinguished Sacramento architectural firm Dean & Dean, whose work helped shape many of the city’s most important civic and institutional buildings. Their notable projects include the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, the Sutter Club, the Sutter Lawn Tennis Club, and Theodore Judah Elementary School. El Dorado Elementary School reflects the quality and character of the firm’s architectural legacy and contributes to Sacramento’s historic built environment.
Given its age, architectural significance, and enduring role in the community, I believe El Dorado Elementary School clearly meets the standards for historic designation. Recognizing and preserving this important resource would honor Sacramento’s educational and architectural heritage while ensuring that future generations can appreciate its historical significance.
Thank you for your consideration of this application.
Respectfully,
[Your Name]
